La qualification d'instructeur de vol de classe 3 est une qualification qui permet à son titulaire d'exercer les avantages d’une qualification d’instructeur de vol de classe 4 sans nécessiter de surveillance ainsi que d’agir en qualité de chef-instructeur de vol d’une unité de formation au pilotage pourvu qu’il n’y ait aucun autre instructeur de vol pour l’unité de formation au pilotage. Un instructeur de vol de classe 3 peut également enseigner en tant qu’instructeur indépendant.

The Class 3 Flight Instructor Rating allows its holder to exercise the privileges of a Class 4 Flight Instructor Rating without the need for supervision and to act as chief flight instructor of a flight training unit where there is no other flight instructor for the flight training unit. A Class 3 flight instructor may also teach as a freelance instructor.
