- Classe 4
La qualification d’instructeur de vol de classe 4 est normalement attribuée pour une période de validité se terminant le premier jour du treizième mois suivant le mois où s’est déroulé le test en vol d’instructeur.
- Classe 3
La qualification initiale d’instructeur de vol de classe 3 est normalement attribuée pour une période de validité se terminant le premier jour du vingt-cinquième mois suivant le mois où s’est déroulé le plus récent test en vol d’instructeur.
- Classe 2
La qualification d’instructeur de vol de classe 2 est normalement attribuée pour une période de validité se terminant le premier jour du trente-septième mois suivant le mois où s’est déroulé le test en vol d’instructeur.
- Classe 1
La qualification d’instructeur de vol de classe 1 est normalement attribuée pour une période de validité se terminant le premier jour du quarante-neuvième mois suivant le mois où s’est déroulé le test en vol d’instructeur.
- Acrobaties aériennes — Classe 2
La qualification d’instructeur d’acrobaties aériennes de classe 2 sur avion est attribuée pour une période de validité se terminant le premier jour du trente-septième mois suivant le mois où le test en vol d’instructeur a été effectué.
- Acrobaties aériennes — Classe 1
La qualification d’instructeur d’acrobaties aériennes de classe 1 sur avion est normalement attribuée pour une période de validité se terminant le premier jour du quarante-neuvième mois suivant le mois où le test en vol d’instructeur a été effectué.
Comment renouveler une qualification d'instructeur de vol ?
(1) La qualification d’instructeur de vol - Avion ou Hélicoptère est renouvelée à tout demandeur qui :
a) soit a subi avec succès un test en vol pour à la qualification d’instructeur de vol appropriée;
b) soit a suivi avec succès un cours de recyclage pour instructeurs de vol, auquel cas le renouvellement est accordé à compter de la date du dernier jour de cours. Lorsque le dernier jour du cours fait partie des 90 jours précédant la date d’expiration de la qualification existante, la qualification renouvelée doit être valide jusqu’à la même date que si le cours de recyclage avait été suivi avec succès dans le cours du mois qui précède la date d’expiration de la qualification existante;
c) soit, au cours des 24 derniers mois, a acquis comme expérience au moins 300 heures de vol à titre d’instructeur et a recommandé durant cette période au moins 80 pour cent des candidats aux tests en vol applicables qui ont réussi dès la première fois qu’ils se sont présentés aux tests. Le renouvellement n’est accordé qu’en fonction de 5 tests en vol ou plus.
d) Lorsqu’un test de vol en vue d’un renouvellement ou dans le but d’obtenir un niveau supérieur à celui d’une qualification d’instructeur de vol est effectué au cours des 90 jours précédant la date d’expiration de la qualification existante, la qualification renouvelée doit être valide jusqu’à la même date que si le test en vol effectué avait été suivi avec succès dans le cours du mois qui précède la date d’expiration de la qualification existante.
(2) Si le demandeur a obtenu deux renouvellements consécutifs de sa qualification d’instructeur de vol sans avoir à subir un test en vol, le renouvellement suivant ne sera accordé qu’après avoir réussi à un test en vol pour la qualification d’instructeur de vol appropriée.
(3)
a) Afin de renouveler sa qualification, le demandeur qui détient, ou a détenu au cours des 12 mois précédents, une qualification d’instructeur de vol, doit réussir à un test en vol pour la qualification d’instructeur de vol appropriée;
b) Dans le cas d’une qualification d’instructeur de vol expirée depuis plus de 12 mois mais moins de 24 mois, le titulaire de la qualification doit, pour la renouveler :
(i) soumettre une recommandation dans laquelle le titulaire d’une qualification d’instructeur de classe 1, de la catégorie appropriée, indique qu’il considère le demandeur apte à se présenter au test d’instructeur de vol; et
(ii) réussir à un test en vol pour la qualification d’instructeur de vol appropriée;
c) Dans le cas d’une qualification d’instructeur de vol expirée depuis plus de 24 mois, le titulaire doit, pour la renouveler :
(i) soumettre une recommandation dans laquelle le titulaire d’une qualification d’instructeur de classe 1, de la catégorie et classe appropriées, indique qu’il considère le demandeur apte à réussir aux examens écrits et à se présenter au test en vol d’instructeur;
(ii) réussir à l’examen pertinent exigé à la rubrique « Connaissances »;
(iii) réussir à un test en vol pour à la qualification d’instructeur de vol appropriée.

- Class 4
The Class 4 Flight Instructor Rating shall be issued valid to the first day of the thirteenth month following the month in which the instructor flight test was conducted.
- Class 3
The initial Class 3 Flight Instructor Rating shall be issued valid to the first day of the twenty-fifth month following the month in which the most recent instructor flight test was conducted.
- Class 2
The class 2 Flight Instructor Rating shall be issued valid to the first day of the thirty-seventh month following the month in which the instructor flight test was conducted.
- Class 1
The Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating shall be issued valid to the first day of the forty-ninth month following the month in which the instructor flight test was conducted.
- Aerobatic — Class 2
The class 2 Aeroplane Aerobatic Flight Instructor Rating shall be issued valid to the first day of the thirty-seventh month following the month in which the instructor flight test was conducted.
- Aerobatic — Class 1
The Class 1 Aeroplane Aerobatic Instructor Flight Rating shall be issued valid to the first day of the forty-ninth month following the month in which the instructor flight test is conducted.
How to renew a Flight Instructor Rating
(1) An applicant for renewal of a Flight Instructor Rating - Aeroplane or Helicopter shall have the rating provided that the applicant:
(a) successfully completes a flight test for the appropriate flight instructor rating;
(b) successfully completes a flight instructor refresher course, in which case the rating shall be renewed from the date of the last day of the course. When the last day of the course is within 90 days of the valid to date of the existing rating, the renewed rating shall be valid to the same date as if the refresher course was completed during the month prior to the valid to date of the existing rating; or
(c) in the previous 24 months, has acquired at least 300 hours of flight instructor experience and had, in this period, at least 80% of candidates recommended for the applicable flight tests pass on the first attempt. The renewal shall be based on no fewer than 5 flight tests.
(d) When an instructor flight test for the renewal or upgrade of a flight instructor rating is conducted within the 90 day period prior to the valid to date of the existing rating, the renewed rating shall be valid to the same date as if the flight test was done during the month prior to the valid to date of the existing rating.
(2) Where the applicant has renewed the instructor rating twice consecutively by means other than a flight test, the next renewal shall be through successful completion of a flight test for the appropriate flight instructor rating.
(3)
(a) Where a flight instructor rating is or has been valid within the preceding 12 months, an applicant for renewal shall successfully complete a flight test for the appropriate flight instructor rating.
(b) Where a flight instructor rating has been invalid for more than 12 months but less than 24 months, an applicant for renewal shall:
(i) provide a recommendation from the holder of a Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating in the appropriate category indicating that the applicant is considered competent to undertake an instructor flight test; and
(ii) successfully complete a flight test for the appropriate flight instructor rating.
(c) Where a flight instructor rating has been invalid for more than 24 months, an applicant for renewal shall:
(i) provide a recommendation from the holder of a Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating in the appropriate category indicating that the applicant is considered competent to complete the written examination(s) and undertake an instructor flight test;
(ii) successfully complete the examination requirement set forth under Knowledge for the appropriate flight instructor rating; and
(iii) successfully complete a flight test for the appropriate flight instructor rating.
